The connection between your Samsung Galaxy Watch and the Pacinity platform runs from the Samsung Health app through the Health Connect app to the Google Fit app. A few steps therefore to get this connection set up but this only has to be done once.
Step 1 - Set up Health Connect
The Health Connect app comes preinstalled on newer phones. If it is not yet installed, download it from the Play Store.
Then set up Health Connect as follows:
Open Health Connect.
Tap Get Started.
Select App permissions.
Select Samsung Health from the list of apps.
Turn on Allow all
Step 2 - Set up the Google Fit app
If you don’t have the Google Fit app installed on your phone yet, download it from the Play Store and login with your Google account (or create a Google account if you don’t already have one).
The first time you open Google Fit after installing Health Connect, you should see a Connect Google Fit with Health Connect banner.
Tap Get started.
Select Set up from the Connect with Health Connect page.
Turn on Allow all
If the Connect with Health Connect banner is not visible:
Tap the Profile button on the bottom navigation bar.
Tap the Settings button at the top.
Ensure to turn on the Connect Google Fit with Health option.
Step 3 - Sync Samsung Health data to Health Connect
Now, link Samsung Health with Health Connect by following these steps:
Open the Samsung Health app.
Tap the three-dot main menu icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Settings.
Tap Health Connect.
Step 4 - Login or create an account on the Pacinity platform
If you already have an account on the Pacinity platform, login to your account and go to step 5 below.
If don’t have an account yet, click the Create your account button in the invitation email you have received from donotreply@pacinity.app.
Complete the form using a complex password (12 characters long including a capital letter and a number), and click the register button.
Haven’t received the invitation email? Check your spam folder in the first instance (sender is donotreply@pacinity.app). Not in your spam folder either? Contact our support team (support@pacinity.com).
Make sure to review the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement.
Step 5 - Register your Samsung Watch (via Google Fit) on the Pacinity platform
In the Pacinity platform, select the My Wearables menu item and then click the “+ Register wearable” button.
Follow the on screen prompts and select the “Connect” button next to Google Fit. You will be directed to the login page of Google Fit and asked to accept Terra (tryterra.co) to have access to your wearable data.
Select all options or “allow all” and click the Accept button. As data options are different for each wearable, selecting all options or “allow all” will ensure we can access the correct data (note: we will only collect the data we need as specified in the Privacy Statement).
You are automatically redirected back to the Pacinity Platform and will receive a notification that your wearable device connection has been successfully established. You can see your connected wearable by clicking on the My Wearable menu item.
If you encounter any issues connecting your wearable, please contact our support team (support@pacinity.com).
Step 6 - Verify data syncing
Your data is synced from your wearable to the Pacinity platform via the apps on your phone (not directly from your wearable itself).
Check therefore that your data (step counts, active minutes, heart rate etc) appears in the Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google Fit apps. If it doesn’t, refer to your wearable’s manual to set this up.
To avoid manually syncing your wearable data to your wearable app, ensure “Background App Refresh” is enabled for your wearable app:
To do this in Android on a Samsung Galaxy, open Settings, then tap Connections > Data usage. From the Mobile section, tap Mobile data usage and make sure the Allow background data usage is turned on for the Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google Fit apps.
To do this in iOS on an iPhone, go to Settings>General>Background App Refresh and make sure Background App Refresh is set to “Wi-Fi” or “WiFi & Cellular Data” and make sure that the toggle next to the Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google Fit apps is set to enabled.
To do this in Android on an other phone, please check your phone’s manual.
If your data is showing in your wearable app and auto syncing is set up properly but your data is not coming through to the Pacinity platform, refer to this trouble shooting guide or contact our support team (support@pacinity.com).
